Meghan Markle won’t travel to Prince Philip’s funeral. Experts say flying while pregnant during the pandemic can be risky.

Prince Harry is reportedly planning to travel to the United Kingdom (UK) following Prince Philip’s death however, it’s unclear whether Meghan Markle will travel to London for Prince Philip’s funeral.

Markle is pregnant with the couple’s second child and expected this summer, which means air travel involves more consideration.

Dr. Makeba Williams, a gynecologist at the University of Wisconsin’s School of Medicine and Public Health, said insider flying is generally safe during pregnancy before 36 weeks, although more precautions are needed during the pandemic, especially if you are not vaccinated.

“It’s unfortunate we have to talk about [flying while pregnant] in the context of a death,” she said, “but it’s relevant to a lot of people.”

Moreover, it is to be noted that airlines usually don’t allow people to fly if they’re 36 weeks pregnant or beyond.
