Hollywood actress Sandra Bullock has raised alarm over online scams targeting her name and endangering her family’s safety. The Speed star issued a stern warning to her fans in a statement to PEOPLE on February 3, 2025, cautioning against fraudulent social media accounts created to exploit her image for financial gain.

In her statement, Sandra expressed deep concern for the safety of her loved ones and innocent people who fall prey to these scams. “My family’s safety, as well as the innocent people being taken advantage of, is my deep concern, and there will be a time when I will comment more,” she said. Emphasizing the importance of assisting authorities, she added that the focus now “is helping law enforcement handle this matter.”

Sandra Bullock clarified that she does not participate in any form of social media. “Any accounts pretending to be me or anyone associated with me are fake accounts and have been created for financial gain or to exploit people around me,” she stated. Her comments come in the wake of revelations by her younger sister, Gesine Bullock-Prado, who recently highlighted the widespread impersonation on platforms like Facebook.

On February 2, Gesine took to Instagram and shared screenshots of several fake accounts purporting to be Sandra. In a lengthy post, she described the distressing nature of the scam, writing, “I spend multiple times a day reporting fakes, dealing with weird & scary emails to my BUSINESS and HOME from men who believe that, through one of these many fake ‘me’s, they have a relationship with my sister through private messages and off app sites and have been giving (sometimes) THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS to an incredibly famous and successful grown woman.”

Gesine continued, “When I report, I also report to a security service that gives the account addresses directly to a Meta employee.” She added, “These crime rings and scams are well known by the company and the world but the fact that I’m put in danger, as is my livelihood, doesn’t mean a damn thing.”

Bullock, known not only for her acting prowess but also for her commitment to protecting her family, which includes her two children, reiterated that the fraudulent accounts are a serious threat. By distancing herself from any social media activity, she aims to mitigate further risk to her personal life and reputation. Authorities have been urged to step up efforts to clamp down on these scams, as both celebrities and everyday users are increasingly targeted by organized crime rings exploiting the digital landscape.

With heightened vigilance and collaboration with law enforcement, Sandra Bullock and her team hope that stronger measures will soon be implemented to bring those responsible to justice and protect innocent fans from falling victim to these deceitful schemes.
