Kim Kardashian is gearing up to testify in person at the upcoming trial of the suspects involved in her terrifying 2016 Paris robbery. The reality star, known for her role in The Kardashians and her SKIMS brand, is ready to face those responsible for the multi-million-dollar heist.
A source close to Kim told PEOPLE that while the business mogul is nervous about the upcoming court appearance, it’s something she’s always wanted to do. “Kim’s a bit nervous, but she always said that she wanted to testify in person,” the insider shared. “This is her choice. She was terrified for her life during the robbery. She wants the people involved convicted.”
On May 12, Kim opened up about her travel plans with a post on her Instagram Stories, sharing a photo of the view from her private plane as she flew abroad. She included an emoji of the French flag, giving a subtle hint of her destination.

The traumatic robbery took place nearly a decade ago in October 2016, when Kim was staying at the No Address hotel in Paris. The thieves broke into her room in the dead of night, bound and gagged her, and then locked her in a bathtub while they ransacked her belongings. Five masked men managed to steal an estimated $9 million worth of jewelry, much of which has never been recovered.
As the trial progresses, 10 people are expected to appear in court to face charges related to the robbery, according to the New York Times. The proceedings began on April 28, and Kim’s testimony will be a key moment in the case.
Though the robbery was a harrowing experience for Kim, her decision to testify highlights her determination to see justice served and hold those responsible accountable for their actions.
