Meghan Markle has been advised to abandon social media as she navigates what a PR expert calls a “very difficult predicament” ahead of her upcoming cookery show’s release. The Duchess of Sussex, who started 2025 with the launch of her Instagram account under the handle @meghan, recently posted the trailer for her new show, With Love, Meghan, set to premiere on March 4. The release was delayed due to California wildfires, adding complexity to its promotion, as reported by the Mirror.
PR expert Fiona Minett, speaking with Express UK, suggested that Meghan should refrain from further social media activity to avoid potential backlash. Minett said, “It is a very difficult predicament that Meghan finds herself in, although perhaps one of her own making. Breaking form on her usual pattern of ‘drop and run’ promotion that creates huge impact whilst retaining an air of mystery will perhaps open her up to criticism that she would prefer to do without.”
The 43-year-old former actress, known for her carefully managed public appearances and media strategy, has typically refrained from heavily promoting her projects on social platforms. Minett noted that this uncharacteristic move to post about the show could lead to challenges.
“She’s not regularly posted on social media in support of any of her post-royal ventures,” Minett explained. “Given that each post or announcement she does make attracts such huge attention, and quite often a backlash, I think she’s probably between a rock and a hard place.”
The show, With Love, Meghan, marks Meghan’s foray into the culinary world and is expected to offer a mix of cooking segments and personal insights. While Netflix handles the bulk of the promotion, Meghan’s personal posts about the series have generated significant attention—and scrutiny.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry is reportedly standing by Meghan as she navigates this challenging phase. The Duke of Sussex has been fully supportive of her ventures, according to sources close to the couple.
As anticipation builds for the show’s release, Minett’s advice underscores the delicate balance Meghan must maintain between engaging her audience and avoiding the pitfalls of excessive online presence. Whether she heeds the advice to step back from social media remains to be seen.
