In a chilling case out of Florida, Christina Anne Adams has been sentenced to two life terms after stabbing both of her parents, then casually heading to the store like nothing happened.
According to the Ocala StarBanner, the 33-year-old woman was found guilty of murdering her father, 74-year-old Richard Langer, and trying to kill her mother, Sally Langer, during an attack in September 2022. The jury took very little time to convict her of premeditated murder and attempted murder with a deadly weapon.
Prosecutors say the violence erupted after Adams was told she had to move out of the home she shared with her parents. That’s when she grabbed a large knife and stabbed both of them, believing she had killed them. But while Adams thought she had wiped out her family, her father was still alive, long enough to call 911 and identify her as the attacker.
Deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene to find both Richard and Sally suffering from multiple stab wounds. While receiving medical treatment, Richard again confirmed that Adams had stabbed them. He later died from his injuries.
Authorities tracked Adams down not long after, driving with her wife nearby. Both women were taken in for questioning. Adams’ spouse reportedly told detectives she had just finished errands and had no idea anything had happened. She said Adams didn’t mention any argument and didn’t appear to be acting strangely.
But when Adams gave her version of events, it didn’t match her partner’s — and the story quickly began to unravel. Eventually, officials say, she confessed to the attack. She told detectives she was furious about being asked to leave the home and admitted to stabbing both parents. After the attack, she said she tried to destroy evidence, changed her clothes, and went shopping.
“She later told detectives that she was angry over being asked to leave the home that she shared with the victims,” the Marion County Sheriff’s Office said at the time. “Adams stated she retrieved a large knife and then attacked both victims, stabbing them multiple times.”
Sheriff Billy Woods didn’t hold back when speaking about the case, calling the stabbings “senseless acts of violence” and “shocking to all of us.” He praised his team for their quick response and arrest, saying, “I’m very proud of my deputies and detectives that worked so quickly to not only provide aid to the victims but also to capture such an evil person and ensure that our streets are safe.”
Adams is now serving two life sentences — one for the murder of her father, and another for the attempted murder of her mother.
