Chris Pratt shared an emotional update on Instagram following the devastating Pacific Palisades fire that hit the Los Angeles area in early January. The Guardians of the Galaxy star expressed both relief and sorrow, revealing that his house was miraculously spared while others in his community were not so fortunate.
In the video, Pratt, 45, began by sharing the good news that his home had survived the fire. “I am going to check out my house. Miraculously, it’s still standing. By the grace of God, we have four walls and a roof,” he said, visibly relieved.
However, Pratt was quick to acknowledge the destruction around him, particularly the loss faced by his ex-wife Anna Faris. “It’s truly devastating to see my community all burned down,” he admitted. “Silver lining as my house was saved, but at the same time so many people’s houses were burned around us. The community’s gone, my son’s school is gone, my son’s mom’s house burned down,” he continued. “Dozens of our friends lost their homes. It’s just wild.”
The Jurassic World actor noted the resilience of those affected, praising the strength of his community during such a challenging time. “It’s been inspiring to see how our communities come together,” he added, reported by PEOPLE. “Thank you for your support and prayers.” He also promised to keep his fans updated as he returned to everyday life in the aftermath of the disaster.
Pratt filmed the update from his car as he headed back to check on his property for the first time since the fire broke out on January 7. The wildfire devastated parts of the Pacific Palisades neighborhood, leaving many families to rebuild their lives from the ground up. While Pratt’s home was spared, the emotional toll on the actor was clear, as he reflected on the community’s profound loss.
