During a press conference on Wednesday at the White House, Fox News reporter Peter Doocy cornered White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki over why migrant detainment facilities are open to children but not US schools.
Psaki was clearly caught off guard as she tried bumbling out an answer as she laughed at the question.
The incident began after Doocy hammered Psaki over the ongoing border crisis, asking the press secretary if President Joe Biden has a “messaging problem.”
“We’re working to fix the mess of the last couple of years. It’s going to take some time,” Psaki said. “This is clearly a priority for the president.
We are looking at a range of options, which include the opening of additional facilities. It includes steps we can take to expedite the processing. It includes application and implementation of CDC guidelines that just came that allow for more children to be housed safely in those communities.”
Doocy went on to ask Psaki why the Biden Administration is fine with opening migrant detainment facilities for children but not okay with opening schools in the United States.
Psaki turned into a bumbling mess as she tried answering the question. The press secretary said that the CDC has steps for reopening schools.
Doocy shot back, “But since they are not all back, from an administration position, or from your perspective, have the border patrol unions and the HHS unions been easier to work with than the teacher’s unions?”
Psaki then accused Doocy of “mixing different circumstances,” however Doocy was right on her heels as he pointed out that the migrant children at the border are “all in tight quarters.”
Psaki clearly didn’t know what to say and even started laughing which then led Doocy saying, “It’s not funny.”
The Biden Administration’s border crisis continues to worsen and President Donald Trump is even beginning to speak up. On Tuesday, the former president released a statement, blasting Biden for his awful border policy.
“We ended Catch-and-Release, shut down asylum fraud and crippled the vicious smugglers, drug dealers and human traffickers,” President Trump said in the statement. “The Wall, despite horrendous Democratic delays, would have easily been finished by now, and is working magnificently.”
“Our country is being destroyed at the Southern border, a terrible thing to see!” he finished.
Check out what Fox News reported:
The former president’s statement comes as the Biden administration faces down a massive wave of illegal migrants at the southern border.
The “overwhelming” number of migrants seen at the border had Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas ask for volunteers in his agency to help deal with the crisis.
Fox News reported on Tuesday that U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) would be shutting down three border checkpoints in Arizona as the agency has trouble dealing with the giant flux of migrants.
