Loving nurse, 26, dies after ‘struggling with the pressures of the Covid pandemic’

A nurse who struggled with the pressures of the pandemic has died at just 26-years-old.

Trisha Roberts, who worked on the frontline of the pandemic, was described as “bubbly, energetic and enthusiastic” by her family.

However, she would often tell them through tear-filled eyes about being at the bedside of Covid patients as they lost their battle with the disease, Wales Online reported.

She was said to be struggling with her mental health and the pressures of the pandemic before her death on Wednesday, February 24.

Sister Tammy Lou has paid tribute to Trisha following her death.

“Regardless of how many times you met her, she left a lasting impression,” she said.

“She was a bubbly, energetic, enthusiastic person and had a loving personality.

“She was loved very much by all and was a very determined and hard worker.

“She would always be there to help in any way she could.”

Tammy Lou remembered a health care worker who would go “above and beyond” to help others in their hour of need.

“She was and always will be our hero,” she said.

“A hero not only to her family but to the NHS. The gaping hole she has left in our hearts, minds and in lives will never be filled.”

Trisha, from Bangor, worked at Ysbyty Gwynedd before moving to the trauma and orthopaedics wards at New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton.

“She often told us with tear-filled eyes that she held the hands of these who unfortunately succumbed to the Covid virus and was often the last person they saw,” Tammy Lou added.

“Her death has come as a great shock to the family as well as her friends and colleagues.”

It is understood that Trisha, who also suffered with ongoing physical health issues, was set to marry her partner Paul in New York once travel restrictions had been lifted.

A GoFundMe page which has been set up to pay for funeral costs and donations in Trisha’s name has raised more than £1,500.
