Oscar Red Carpet Dresses vs After-parties Dresses

Oscar Red Carpet Dresses vs After-parties Dresses

Hollywood elite problem! How do you get down at Oscar after-parties when you’re wearing a formal dress that makes movement, not to mention breathing, difficult? Easy: Do as these four Academy Award nominees did and change into a gown post-show that’s more forgiving and arguably more fun!

Anne Hathaway

After Les MiserablesAnne Hathaway nabbed her Best Supporting Actress Oscar, the 30-year-old actress traded in her pale pink Nipplegate Prada dress for a loose custom Saint Laurent sheath dress with a sequin neckline.

Jennifer Lawrence Dress

Hathaway may have covered up for Oscar night’s second act, but Silver Linings Playbook’s Jennifer Lawrence opted to wear a little less to the after-parties, a wise choice considering she tripped on her voluminous Dior gown while walking up to the podium to accept her Best Actress statue. The 22-year-old beauty slipped into a slinky Calvin Klein bustier dress that took up noticeably less room.

Amy Adams Dress

Meanwhile, Amy Adams, 38, who was up for a Best Supporting Actress award (for her role in The Master) switched gears and changed out of her gorgeous Oscar de la Renta dress with a full tulle skirt and into a slim, fringed party dress by the same designer.

Naomi Watts Dress

And Best Actress nominee Naomi Watts (The Impossible), flawless in a form-fitting Armani Prive gown at the awards ceremony, relaxed at the post-show bashes in a glittering one-shouldered Emilio Pucci gown.
