Piers Morgan confirms ‘what went down’ on GMB as he clears out old dressing room

Piers Morgan has taken to social media to clarify as to why he left Good Morning Britain.

The outspoken TV star dramatically quit the show after an explosive row about Meghan Markle ‘s tell-all with Oprah Winfrey.

Piers insisted he didn’t believe a word of what the former Suits actress was saying causing him to lock horns with weatherman Alex Beresford.

Earlier this week, Piers, 55, quote tweeted a post from American radio host Darik Kristofer in which the US personally gave his take on the situation.

Darik wrote: “Irrespective of whether or not I agree with him: He said something, meant it sincerely, was attacked for it, then stuck by his guns, accepted consequences. He owned what he said and he meant it. I can’t fault him for that”.

Piers added to his seven million followers: “Thank you. This is a perfect summary of what went down.”

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday afternoon, Piers shared a snap of his ITV dressing room all boxed up.

In the corner of the room was a cardboard cut out of his former co-star Susanna Reid.

Piers captioned the shot: “Goodbye, Good Morning Britain!

I think I’ll leave the cardboard cut-out, would be a bit creepy to take that home…”

Meghan stunned the world by claiming to Oprah that in a conversation she wasn’t a part of that a member of the royal family ‘raised concerns’ about the colour Archie’s skin would be.

Both she and Prince Harry refused to give any context to the comment, nor would the say who said it.

Oprah later added on CBS that Princess Diana’s son told her off camera the comment was not made by The Queen, 94, or Prince Phillip, 99.

Following a meeting with ITV bosses, Piers quit the show as a record number of Ofcom complaints flooded in.

Meghan Markle is confirmed to have personally contacted the CEO of ITV and complained about Piers’ comments as well as lodging her own Ofcom complaint.

During his ITV meeting, ITV bosses asked Piers to make an on air apology the following day but he refused.

He argued that he was simply defending the right to free speech.
