The Good For You singer Selena Gomez mysteriously cancelled a string of stops on her Stars Dance world tour in early 2014, but it wasn’t until last year (15) that she revealed she was battling complications from the autoimmune disease at the time, subsequently leading to her unexpected hiatus from the spotlight. In an interview with Billboard, she divulged, “I was diagnosed with lupus, and I’ve been through chemotherapy. That’s what my break was really about. I could’ve had a stroke… I locked myself away until I was confident and comfortable again.”
Now that Selena, 23, is in better health, she is preparing to hit the road again for her Revival world tour, which kicks off in Las Vegas on Friday (06May16). And this time around, she will be donating proceeds from each ticket sold on the trek to the Alliance for Lupus Research, an organisation which aims to find better treatments and ultimately prevent lupus. A representative for Selena tells Billboard she selected ALR because of its broad reach.
