While former President Donald Trump said President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw U.S. troops from Afghanistan is “a wonderful and positive thing to do,” he criticized the timeline. He said the troops “should get out earlier.” Trump claims that he is concerned that the Biden administration announced that all US troops would be leaving Afghanistan by September 11.

“September 11th represents a very sad event and period for our Country and should remain a day of reflection and remembrance honoring those great souls we lost,” Trump said, according to Axios.

“Getting out of Afghanistan is a wonderful and positive thing to do,” the former guy added. “I planned to withdraw on May 1st, and we should keep as close to that schedule as possible.”

Well, the Biden administration announced that they “will begin an orderly drawdown of the remaining forces before May 1 and plan to have all US troops out of the country” by the 9/11 anniversary.

And while Trump’s statement didn’t appear as unhinged as his previous ones, it’s interesting that he brought up that September 11th should be a day of honoring the thousands of Americans that died on that day. In 2019, Trump had planned to meet with Taliban leaders at Camp David just a few days before the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

They were coming to the United States tonight,” Trump tweeted on Sept. 7, 2019. “Unfortunately, in order to build false leverage, they admitted to…”

It’s almost as if Trump thinks Americans can’t remember things.
