Two men ‘drugged, raped and robbed’ woman who later died in hotel on spring break

Two men have been accused of drugging and raping a woman who later died while on spring break.

Evoire Collier, 21, and Dorian Taylor, 24, allegedly gave Christine Englehardt, 24, a green pill before going back to her hotel in Miami, Florida, US.

Both men were reportedly captured on CCTV entering the Albion Hotel with her in the early hours of last Thursday, before leaving 30 minutes later.

They are accused of raping her before stealing her phone, money and credit cards which they used to carry on partying in South Beach.

Ms Englehardt, who was visiting from Pennsylvania, was later found dead in her room on Thursday.

Investigators are trying to find out if she died from an overdose, possibly from the pill the men gave her, the Miami Herald reports.

It is not clear if she took the pill willingly or was spiked.

Police said they left “without any concern for her welfare or safety”.

Collier and Taylor, of Greensboro, North Carolina, were later arrested.

They now face charges of burglary with battery, sexual battery, petty theft and fraud.

The arrests come as authorities try to crack down on widespread spring break chaos in the area, which has seen fights, crowd stampedes and police confrontations.

More than 1,000 revellers have been arrested since February.

An 8pm curfew and other restrictions were imposed on Sunday which could last until mid-April.

Collier told officers Taylor gave the girl a “green pill” which he claimed he thought was a painkiller, local media reported.

The drug has been sent to a lab, a court was told on Monday.

No cause of death has yet been determined.

According to reports, if the drug they gave her is shown to have played a role in her death they could potentially face a manslaughter or murder charge.

Miami Beach Detective Luis Alsina told the bond hearing Taylor was seen “holding her from behind, holding her by the neck so she could stand”.

A police report said: “The fact that the victim was under the influence of alcohol and narcotics, she could not have consented to sex with the defendants.”

Collier and Taylor are set to be arraigned next month.
