The Hands to Myself singer Selena Gomez revealed the news in a recent interview, adding she cannot wait for the annual fashion event at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday (02May16). “It’s gonna be the best,” the 23-year-old told Access Hollywood. “We (Taylor and I) are going together! It’s so fun. It’s kinda like prom for fashion… I love going and I love going because everyone feels great.” However, Selena refused to name the designers she or Taylor will be wearing to the fundraising gala, which benefits the Met’s Costume Institute. “I don’t want to get in trouble,” she said as she grinned, “(but) it’s beautiful and it’s so cool.”
Bad Blood hitmaker Taylor Swift is co-chairing the event alongside actor Idris Elba, Apple’s Chief Design Officer Jonathan Ive and Vogue magazine Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour. The best friends have attended many events and awards shows together in the past, and most recently showed up together at this year’s Grammy Awards in February (16), when Taylor picked up Album of The Year and Best Pop Album for 1989, and Best Music Video for Bad Blood.
Selena Gomez was spotted in the audience tearing up as her friend took to the stage to accept her awards, and Taylor shared a video of herself celebrating backstage with Selena before the show as her win for Bad Blood was announced. As Taylor repeated “What just happened?”, her excited best pal jumped up and down beside her.
