More Trouble for Prince Harry’s Charity? Another Trustee Quits Amid Explosive Allegations

Prince Harry’s charity Sentebale has hit yet another rocky patch, with another trustee stepping down not long after Harry himself and co-founder Prince Seeiso were “forced to resign.”

According to the Daily Mail’s Richard Eden, South African entrepreneur Nerissa Naidu, who had only joined the board on 25 March, has already stepped away from her role. Her departure wasn’t exactly dramatic, though — Sentebale confirmed she “chose to step down out of respect for her other professional commitments” and expressed gratitude for her “tremendous support.”

Still, her exit adds to a growing list of shakeups at the charity. Naidu’s resignation follows that of Dr. Margaret Ikpoh, leaving just three trustees remaining — Iain Rawlinson, Dr. Bhakti Hansoti, and Dr. Sophie Chandauka. And it’s Chandauka who has brought the most serious claims to light.

Speaking to The Times, Chandauka didn’t hold back, saying: “Beneath all the victim narrative and fiction… is the story of a woman who dared to blow the whistle.” She accused the organisation of “abuse of power, bullying, harassment, misogyny, misogynoir and the cover-up that ensued.” Pretty explosive stuff, and not the kind of headlines a royal-linked charity wants splashed across the papers.

Prince Harry, unsurprisingly, wasn’t having any of it. In a statement released on 3 April, he hit back hard, describing the accusations as “blatant lies.”

He said, “What has transpired over the last week has been heartbreaking to witness, especially when such blatant lies hurt those who have invested decades in this shared goal.” He also welcomed the investigation by the UK’s Charity Commission, saying he hoped it would “unveil the truth that collectively forced us to resign.”

Harry originally founded Sentebale in 2006 alongside Prince Seeiso in memory of Princess Diana, aiming to support vulnerable young people in Southern Africa. It was a cause close to his heart, but the recent internal fallout is painting a very different picture of the organisation’s behind-the-scenes workings.

While the official line on Naidu’s departure may be calm and courteous, the timing, alongside all the drama and serious allegations, definitely raises eyebrows. With multiple trustees out and an investigation ongoing, the future of Sentebale — and Prince Harry’s legacy with it — seems far from certain.
