2013 Horror Movies

List of the Top 10 Horror Movies in 2013 with some upcoming movies cast and director names with reviews. The movies include Texas Chainsaw 3D, A Haunted House, Warm Bodies, Stoker, Evil Dead World, War Z, The Purge, Mama,  Carrie and The Conjuring.

1. Texas Chainsaw 3D

Taxes Chainsaw can be named in theTop 10 Horror Movies in 2013. In the movie a lady travels to Texas with her friends to get a inheritance; she know encounters with a chainsaw-wielding killer which become a part of the reward. This is a sequel to the original 1974 which disregard the events of ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 ‘,Leatherface’ (1990) and ‘TCM: Next Generation’ (1994). Dan Yeager a newcomer is playing the chainsaw-wielding Leatherface which is a very tough job for a newbie. The writers with screenplay credit are bargain basement and the director of the mediocre ‘Takers’ is new to the horror genre.  Marilyn Burns, John Dugan, Gunnar Hansen and Bill Moseley made appearance throughout the movie.

2. A Haunted House

This is an R-rated parody of ‘Paranormal Activity’ and exorcism movies. Though it’s not highly related but it’s worth watching and seems to be in the Top 10 Horror Movies in 2013.  When newlywed couple Wayans and Atkinss start a new life by going to their new house but they find out that there is something in the house and they are not alone there. The problem is not the house because it’s not haunted, it’s Atkinsswho is haunted with spirits. Soon her husband seeks the help of a psychic,a priest and ghost hunters to get her rid of that ‘something’. Wayans was one of the creators of ‘Scary Movie’ but this looks far worse. It’s an R rated movie so you better be above 15 to watch it.

3. Stoker

India’s (the main character) father dies in road accident and her Uncle Charlie who was not known to her till he comes to live with her and her emotionally unstable mother , Soon after his arrival, she comes to suspect this strange, charismatic man has secret motives, but instead of feeling outrage or horror, this friendless girl becomes more and moreobsessed with him.

4. Warm Bodies

Starring: Nicholas Hoult, Teresa Palmer, Rob Corddry, John Malkovich, Dave Franco

A young zombie walks through the ruin of the apocalypse, craving for human brains to get high on their memories. A female brain makes him fall in love with the victim’s friend. He saves her from his zombie pack and their venture together begins. This movie will have heavy voice effects as the lead zombie uses grunts and simple syllables. Director Levine is very credible after the making of the two famous hits ‘The Wackness’ and ’50/50′.

5. Evil Dead

Five friends headed to a distant cabin, where they discover of a Book of the Dead leads them to without knowing call up evil spirits living in the woods. The evil possesses their company until the last of them is left to fight for his life.

6. World War Z

A UN employee Gerry Lane pass through the world in a race against time to end the Zombie plague that is overthrow the army and governments and intimidating to destroy civilization itself.

7. The Conjuring

8. Carrie

One of the top horror movies that is going to be released late this year has a Story based on the novel of Stephen King seems to attract a lot of audience to this horror movie. In the movie a sheltered high school girl unleash her newly developed clairvoyant influence after she is pushed too far by her peers.

9. Mama

Lucas and his girlfriend Annabel have to raise the young nieces that were left alone in the forest for 5 years. The young nieces start making their life harder because they weren’t alone.  This movie can be named in the Top 10 Horror Movies in 2013 as well.

10. The Purge

This movie is written and directed by James DeMonaco, which means it is going to be a perfect show for the horror movie lovers.

The story is about a family in a future of devastated America by crime and overcrowded prisons, the government provides a twelve hour period once a year when all criminal activity, even murder, is legal. A man attempts to protect his family from a burglar during one such period. The family will be tested to see how they will protect themselves.

One of the reasons why it is going to be in the top 10 horror movies in 2013 is because of the lead actress Lena Headey who is famous for her role in Game of thrones.
