The young aspiring dancer, known for his passion for the stage, became a hero when he intervened to protect his mother, who was eight months pregnant, from Brand, who had recently been released from prison.

The ordeal unfolded early in the morning when Brand, armed with a knife and with a violent history, forcibly entered the Perkins residence. In the midst of the attack, young Jayden stood up to defend his mother and his soon-to-be sibling, a courageous act witnessed by his five-year-old brother, shown on WGN 9.
