It looks like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might be inching towards reconnecting with the Royal Family, nearly five years after stepping down and relocating to the US. But while Meghan seems ready to mend bridges, not everyone back in the UK is convinced it’s a good idea.
According to Life & Style, Meghan’s feelings towards the Royals have softened, and she’s now eager for her children, Archie and Lilibet, to know their dad’s side of the family. Apparently, she wants to build a connection between the kids and their royal relatives, even if it means facing a bit of royal awkwardness.
Harry, on the other hand, is said to be focusing on some practicalities—mainly the ongoing security issues he’s been battling in the UK. A source claimed, “He is still trying to work out the security issues so his kids can go to the U.K. safely.” So while the intent is there, the logistics are still up in the air.
As for how the rest of the Royal Family is taking all of this? Well, reactions are mixed. Kate Middleton is reportedly on board. “Kate is up for a reunion,” a source said. But when it comes to Prince William, things aren’t quite so simple. “William is the holdout,” the insider added. “He has trust issues with Harry and he still questions his motives.”
It’s no secret there’s been a fair amount of tension between the brothers in recent years, and it sounds like William’s not totally convinced that everything is water under the bridge just yet.
Queen Camilla isn’t exactly enthusiastic either. The source mentioned she “also isn’t convinced” by the idea of the Sussexes sliding back into the family circle.
So where does that leave everything? Still very much up in the air. “The big question is, will it happen sooner rather than later,” the source said. And that’s the million-pound question, isn’t it?
