Janelle Monáe loves her natural hair, and she’s 100% in charge of her look. “Well folks, sorry to say this, but I do my own styling and my own tangled-up hair! I never like to inconvenience anyone I don’t have to. I mean, I may not do the best job, but if I can do it, I would just rather it be that way,” she told her fans on MySpace.
Many celebrities who do their own hair are also in charge of their own makeup. For Carrie Underwood, being in charge of her look before performing is a relaxing experience that she enjoys. “You can do things you wouldn’t really do. You can put glitter on your eyes. Big hair. The bigger, the better. It’s fun. It’s a nice relaxing time, a calm before the storm, if you will,” the singer told Styelist.
