World Women’s Day for the past few years has now moved from being a reminder of the many negatives to a celebration of the many positives and the many more to come.

World Women’s Day has been observed from as back as the early 1900’s. That is when enormous growth and disorder was witnessed in the industrialized world. As population boomed radical ideologies such as World Women’s Day popped up.

World Women’s Day Step One: 1908 saw15, 000 women marching through New York City for shorter hours, better pay and voting rights.

World Women’s Day Step Two: In 1909 the first National Woman’s Day (NWD) was observed across the United States on 28 February.

World Women’s Day Step Three: In 1910 a second International Conference of Working Women was held in Copenhagen.

World Women’s Day Step Four: 1911 the World’s Women’s Day (IWD) was honored the first time internationally on 19 March.

World Women’s Day from the year 2000 and beyond is considered an official holiday in plenty of countries. World Women’s Day has men honoring the important women in their lives with flowers and small gifts. In some countries World Women’s Day is celebrated just as Mother’s Day with children giving small presents to their mothers and grandmothers.

As time has progressed man has witnessed a noteworthy change in the attitude of both women’s and society’s thoughts towards women’s equality and liberation. World Women’s Day is the opportunity for the younger generation to honor ‘all the battles that have been won for women.’ The ill-fated truth is that women still have a long way to go but World Women’s Day every year reminds us we have come a long way so there is no reason to stop now.
