Katy Perry is expanding her fashion credentials by launching a shoe collection. The Roar singer launched her first fragrance, Purr by Katy Perry, in 2010 and followed that with a makeup line, Katy Kat Collection with CoverGirl in April (16). Now she is getting ready to release the Katy Perry Footwear line, which will include sandals, sneakers, stilettos and pumps. The collection was showcased at the annual Fashion Footwear Association of New York Expo earlier this month (Aug16) and will hit stores in 2017. “It’s been a creative goal of mine to be a real contributor in the affordable fashion space,” she tells WWD.com. “Launching a footwear collection felt like a natural first step for me.

“After years of investigating and researching partnerships to find the right fit for the debut of my line, I found that Global Brands most resonated with my artistic ideas. The news comes a month after bosses at Hard Candy launched a lawsuit against executives at CoverGirl parent company Procter & Gamble over Katy’s CoverGirl make-up line, claiming it infringes on their rights.

According to TMZ.com, the plaintiffs’ complaint is over alleged trademark violations, but they did not specify exactly what they have taken issue with. However, it appears the dispute has something to do with the logo featured on the Katy Perry make-up range, as it carries a heart design similar to the one Hard Candy uses. Hard Candy officials are seeking to have the Perry products pulled from sale, while they are also demanding a share of profits from the items.
